Welcome to the Emerging Media Lab!
The EML is a community hub for artists, makers, and curious minds across Western New York exploring creative technology, time-based art, multi-media installations, and interactive storytelling. Dedicated spaces and specialized tools for new media can be difficult to find locally, so this lab operates as an open sandbox. Whether you are writing your first lines of creative code, experimenting with video synthesis, building responsive physical sculptures, or simply curious about how art and tech intersect, this space is designed for collaborative exploration and shared learning.

A Collaborative Framework 
The lab runs on informal skill-sharing sessions, peer critiques, visiting artist talks, and hands-on demos where participants can exchange tools and techniques in a supportive environment. While everyone is welcome to drop in solely to learn or workshop their own individual efforts, we also establish shared goals throughout the year. Twice annually, interested members have the option to team up on group concepts, combining our multidisciplinary skills to produce collaborative themes/works for local and regional shows.

Sustainability, Grants & Networking 
To ensure access remains open and low-barrier, active steps are underway to build long-term organizational infrastructure and secure regional grant support. We are pursuing fiscal sponsorship and public arts funding to subsidize studio access, project materials, and presentation spaces. Beyond funding, a core priority of the lab is fostering regional networking—bridging independent practitioners with academic programs, local galleries, and cultural non-profits to build a resilient, interconnected creative community across Western New York.
